Localities across the nation have planned a wide range of activities to greet the upcoming New Year 2021.

On the night of December 31, Hanoi will stage high-altitude fireworks, as well as countdowns and special art shows to create a joyful and exciting atmosphere for locals and tourists ringing in the new year.
Accordingly, high-altitude fireworks will last for 15 minutes (from 0:00 on January 1, 2021) in the three areas of Hoan Kiem Lake (Hoan Kiem district), Thong Nhat Park (Hai Ba Trung district) and My Dinh (Nam Tu Liem district).
Various countdown events combined with art shows are also taking place in downtown Hanoi, with the two biggest being staged at August Revolution Square and in front of the Hanoi Opera House tomorrow evening.
At Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, a light show will be premiered along with artistic performances from 8 pm on December 31, 2020 to 1 am the next day. At the King Ly Thai To Monument, there will also be a New Year 2021 show.
Hanoians across 10 districts and towns in the capital city will also be treated with various arts programmes.
Local authorities have developed plans to ensure security, traffic safety, environmental sanitation and healthcare to serve the locals in welcoming the new year.
In the central coastal city of Da Nang, a parade of 40 tourist cyclos decorated in an environmentally friendly manner on December 29 kicked off a chain of events to celebrate the New Year 2021.

The activities form a part of the Da Nang - Welcoming New Year 2021 Festival, taking place from December 29, 2020 to February 1, 2021.
The cyclo-tour parade starts from 15:00 during the festival, running through Da Nang’s main streets and featuring the image of a Golden Buffalo – the mascot representing the Lunar New Year 2021, together with Da Nang girls in red ao dai exuding the belief in a prosperous new year for the city.
There are also various activities, including flower boat parades, night cruise tours on the Han River, a countdown party, a noodle festival and street music and art performances, during the festival, aiming to welcome locals and visitors to an attractive festive atmosphere in Da Nang for the beginning of the new year.
In the central province of Quang Binh, local authorities have planned to boost local tourism on digital platforms in order to attract visitors in 2021.
It is one of the measures Quang Binh has decided will restore tourism in the new year, as Vietnam has successfully controlled the COVID-19 epidemic.
Accordingly, Quang Binh will promote communication activities on tourism on digital platforms, such as coordinating with Google to continue promoting its image on Google Art and Culture, implementing digital marketing campaigns in 2021, and developing virtual reality photo sets and 360-degree photos for tourism promotional activities.
Quang Binh has offered discounts of 20-50% of entrance fees to all local tourist attractions and routes in 2021, including tours of Son Doong – the largest cave in the world.
Tourism businesses in the province have also put into operation new tourism products and are offering promotions and discounts from 10-30%, with a commitment to ensuring safety for tourists and due attention paid to COVID-19 response.
