(TITC) - On July 8, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu attended online 39th Meeting of ASEAN, China, Japan and Republic of Korea National Tourism Organizations (39th ASEAN+3 NTOs). Cambodia and Korea cochaired the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu said due to the hit of the COVID-19 pandemic, ASEAN tourism was impacted severely on all facets of the tourism sector since last year. The tourist exchanges between ASEAN and plus China, Japan and Korea has dropped significantly while travel restriction was applied in region.
Viet Nam highly appreciates China, Japan and Korea’s continuous supports to ASEAN+3 tourism cooperation during the most difficult time. Viet Nam tourism has seen plus three countries’ great efforts in facilitating the virtual events and technical assistance such as online training, digital promotional campaigns, tourist surveys, themed workshops, and so on, which are fruitful for policy-making and tourism recovery process.
Until now when the COVID-19 pandemic is effectively controlled and the vaccination roll-out is in progress, Viet Nam propose that ASEAN+3 region shall consider the joint promotional campaigns to be held in the near future, in order to resume the tourist flows at the soonest possible. Viet Nam will work closely with all member states to implement ASEAN Plus Three Tourism Cooperation Work Plan 2021-2025 and bring tourism sector back on track.
At the meeting, delegates shared the result of tourism cooperation between ASEAN and China, Japan and Korea.
China informed about tourism cooperation activities to implement the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Declaration on ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity (2016-2020).
Japan briefed on the progress of tourism cooperation to implement the Vision Statement on ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and its Implementation Plan adopted in Tokyo, Japan, in 2013.
Korea summarized activities to implement the Plan of Action to Implement the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity (2016-2020).
The assistance of China, Japan and Korea to ASEAN tourism through ASEAN-China Center, ASEAN-Japan Center and ASEAN-Korea Center named as training courses on promoting tourism (building websites, training tourism guides, technical seminars on market, participating in promotion events), product development (river tourism, cruise tourism, heritage tourism...) and exchange programs, training courses in ASEAN and partner countries.
