The Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia and the Liaison Department of the Vietnamese Community in Johor state (Malaysia) have jointly organized the Vietnam Ao Dai Charming Contest in Malaysia on the occasion of Vietnamese Women's Day (October 20).

The contest was launched in early 2022 and has received an enthusiastic response from more than 100 contestants from all over Malaysia through face-to-face and online rounds.
The final round was held on October 16 in Johor state with the participation of 20 contestants, and six contestants were chosen to award one first prize, one second prize, one third prize and three consolation prizes.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the contest, Mr. Nguyen Thai Hung, Second Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Malaysia, highly appreciated the role of Vietnamese women in the new era.
He also conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Tran Viet Thai to overseas Vietnamese living and working in Malaysia, and expressed his wish that the Vietnamese community continue to promote the spirit of unity, respect the local laws, and preserve the national cultural identity.
The first prize of the contest was presented to Ho Van Thu, born in 1988 from Ho Chi Minh City and currently working as an office staff at Cognizant company in Malaysia.
Mr. Nguyen Nhu Hao, Head of the Liaison Department of the Vietnamese Community in Johor, said that the contest not only honors the beauty of traditional costumes, contributing to preserving and promoting the beauty of traditional cultural identity, but it is also an opportunity for the Vietnamese community in Malaysia to connect and show the strength of solidarity./.
