Quang Ninh Province: From 15th September 2023, no plastic bags and disposable plastic items to Co To Island

(TITC) - According to the Division of Culture, Information and Tourism of Co To District (Quang Ninh Province), from 15th September 2023, visitors are not allowed to bring plastic bags and single-use plastic items to Co To island.

Thereby, 100% of agencies, units, schools, markets, service establishments, ships transporting passengers, transporting goods, fishing seafood... in Co To District are not allowed to using plastic bags, disposable plastic items (plastic boxes, plastic cups, disposable plastic straws, etc.) and materials that pose a risk of polluting the marine environment since the above time.

Also from 15th September 2023, at the wharfs on Co To Island, there will be two control teams so that tourists do not bring plastic bags, single-use plastic items, and materials that pose a risk of environmental pollution to the island. This control team will ask tourists to collect plastic bags and single-use plastic items in trash cans or storage devices located at the wharf.

This is a practical action to continue implementing phase 2 of Project 175 with pilot content from 15th September 2023 in Co To island district to further improve the effectiveness of implementing the goal of the Government, Provincial Party Committee, and People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province that is to minimise plastic waste and reduce marine environmental pollution.
