The Viet Nam Railway Corporation (VRN) has announced that it would start to sell train tickets for the 2024 Lunar New Year from 8:00 am on October 20, 2023.
In order to meet the increasing travel demand of passengers during the upcoming Tet Festival 2024, VRN plans to run 10 pairs of passenger trains on the Ha Noi - HCMC route. They will be six pairs of regularly running trains SE1/2, SE3/ 4, SE5/6, SE7/8, SE9/10 and SE11/12, and four extra pairs of trains SE23/24, SE27/28, TN3/4, and TN5/6.
Besides, there will be several pairs of regional trains from HCMC to Nha Trang, Dieu Tri, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Dong Hoi and Vinh, and vice versa.
Notably, VRN is set to put a pair of high-quality trains SE19/20 between Ha Noi and Da Nang regularly during the forthcoming Tet Festival.
The railway sector also applies the discount programme to passengers who are Vietnamese heroic mothers, wounded soldiers, older adults, children, school pupils, college students, trade union members, and others. Students will receive an additional 20% discount on fares. Passengers buying round-trip tickets will also enjoy a discount of 5% on the return legs.
Students are eligible for a discount up to 20% off the price of their train ticket purchase.
It is known that passengers can buy tickets on existing platforms and ticket sales points at the railway station, according to the principle that customers can reserve no more than 10 tickets for one way at a time.
VRN also recommends that passengers should only buy tickets at official ticket sales points of the railway industry, not at unclear points to avoid buying fake tickets.
