Moc Chau National Tourist Area focus green and sustainable development

(TITC) – On 18 May 2024, the People's Committee of Son La province coordinated with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize a tourism promotion conference "Orientation for green and sustainable developing in Moc Chau National Tourist Area".

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Mr. Ho An Phong, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, and Standing Vice Chairman of Son La Provincial People's Committee Mrs. Trang Thi Xuan co-chaired the conference.

Opening the conference, Mrs. Trang Thi Xuan said that Moc Chau National Tourist Area is located in the two districts of Moc Chau and Van Ho. The area is the gateway of Son La tourism and the bridge connecting the capital Ha Noi with the Northwest provinces by National Highway 6, and also connects with Hua Phan province and Luang Prabang province (Laos) through the Long Sap international border gate.

The unique climate, topography, and geology have created the unique beauty of Moc Chau. Fresh air, beautiful and majestic natural landscapes have become potential and valuable natural resources for tourism development.

In the process of development and exploitation, Moc Chau National Tourist Area will face many challenges in using tourism resources, preserving cultural values, landscape and environmental protection, land management, urban development, as well as issues of product quality, tourism services, security and safety for tourists...

At the conference, tourism experts shared the tourism development situation in some localities, lessons and recommendations for Moc Chau National Tourist Area; how to build the "Green Tourism Village" model as well as digital transformation solutions for Moc Chau national tourist area.

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong affirmed that the recognition of the national tourist area opens a new path for Moc Chau tourism to develop sustainably. The Deputy Minister suggested that the People's Committee of Son La province should pay attention to perfecting mechanisms, policies, and management of development of Moc Chau national tourist area in accordance with issued plans; develop in a green, clean, and beautiful direction, applying "Net zero" forms of tourism development towards sustainable development.

Moc Chau national tourist area should pay attention on tourism environmental management, preserve and promote natural and cultural values; Ensuring security and safety for tourists; pay special attention to environmental sanitation, food hygiene and safety; Encouraging the participation of ethnic minorities, residential communities, and businesses in building a cultural, civilized, friendly, and hospitable tourism environment;

Focusing building new and unique tourism models and products based on the distinct potential and unique competitive advantages of Moc Chau - Van Ho; Promoting the development of thematic products (leisure and eco-tourism, conferences - seminars - events, golf tourism, community tourism and culinary, wellness, sports tourism).

Deputy Minister Ho An Phong proposed that Son La province need to develop socio-economic infrastructure, strengthening intra-provincial, inter-regional links and international links.
