The Hoi An People’s Committee has approved a plan to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Cham Islands being recognised as a UNESCO world biosphere reserve (May 26, 2009 - May 26, 2024).

Accordingly, on May 23, there will be a celebration along with a performance art show at the Cham Islands dock. At that time, travellers will receive free tickets to visit Cham Islands (the core area of the biosphere reserve).

The event aims to propagandise and promote the images of this UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and raise awareness of the responsibility and role of the community and related parties in preserving, developing, and promoting the values of the biosphere.

At the same time, it takes place to respond to the National Biodiversity Restoration Year - Quang Nam 2024, step up biodiversity preservation, and foster environmentally friendly tourism experience activities in order to attract more visitors to the Cham Islands, contributing to local tourism restoration and socio - economic development.

The 3rd Hoi An Craft Quintessence will take place from May 31 to June 2. During this period of time, the Hoi An Green Start-up and Consumption Fair in 2024 will happen in traditional craft villages and creative spaces in the city.

Accordingly, there will be a lot of experiencing activities for the locals and visitors, such as going on an excursion at the centre of Kim Bong carpentry village in Cam Kim Commune on June 1; a contest for women in Cam Kim ecological craft village; the spaces for Hoi An traditional craft performance, photo exhibition themed Hoi An Creative City, and displaying books about Hoi An Craft Quintessence; a seminar on digitalisation of craft villages in Hoi An; and the Hoi An Green Start-up and Consumption Fair 2024.

All the events at the 3rd Hoi An Craft Quintessence focus on honouring and promoting the traditional craft values in Hoi An; introducing the cultural beauties of traditional crafts and craft villages there to the public, especially when Hoi An has joined the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the fields of crafts and folk arts; linking craft villages and finding outlets for products; and expanding cooperation and consumption of agricultural and OCOP products.

In Hoi An Memories Land, the festival Light to Sky will kick off with a drone light show from 19:30 to 19:45 on June 1. Then, the event takes place every evening, from 18:30 to 19:30, and lasts until September 2.

Also at the festival Light to Sky, visitors will have a chance to immerse themselves in a fairy tale world with special lanterns bringing their wishes into the sky. The festival Light to Sky creates an interesting space with a series of charming, colourful light-themed mini-shows.
