Vietnam Airlines (VNA), a four-star airline and the nation’s flag carrier, has been named among the Top 5 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region by Cirium, a leader in aviation analytics, in the Monthly On-Time Performance (OTP) Report in April.
Vietnam Airlines is named among Top 5 most punctual airlines in Asia Pacific this year
The local airline secured fifth spot with an OTP of 81.85%, a near three-point increase over last month’s 78.98%.
Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), a hub for Vietnam Airlines in Ha Noi, concluded the month with an overall OTP of 73.18%.
Elsewhere in the Asia-Pacific region, Japan Airlines claimed top position in the region with an OTP of 88.17%, followed by Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways with 87.21%, Malaysian airline AirAsia with 85.48%, and Japanese airline Peach Aviation with 84.19%.
Globally, the most punctual airline was Mexico’s Aeromexico which achieved an 88.83% on-time performance rate, followed by Japan Airlines with 88.17%, and Japan’s All Nippon Airways with 87.21%.
Cirium compiled the list by analysing 600 sources of real-time flight information, thereby ensuring accuracy from airports, air navigation service providers, global distribution systems, airlines, positional data, civil aviation authorities, the Internet, and proprietary data partnerships.
An airline’s on-time performance is calculated by whether the plane arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of the scheduled arrival time and if it departs within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure time, Cirium said.
Last year saw Vietnam Airlines named among the top 10 most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region in Cirium’s On-Time Performance Review 2023.
