(TITC) - UNESCO Global Geopark Network Expert Team led by Mr. Guy Martini, Senior, chairperson of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, had a meeting with Cao Bang Province leaders on preparation work for The 8th Asia Pacific Geoparks Network Symposium 2024 in Cao Bang.

Connecting Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark with the UNESCO Global Geopark Network

At the meeting, leaders of the Cao Bang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism reported progress on the Symposium preparation work, including: contents, logistics, ceremony organisation, media, security, medical, invitations,...

The Department also met with the UNESCO Asia-Pacific Global Geopark team to determine tasks, propose agenda items, activities on the sidelines of the Symposium, plans to arrange human resources to support the organisation and making of souvenir products; training for volunteers participating in Symposium services.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Guy Martini highly appreciates preparation work that is on schedule and continues to be implemented as planned. According to Mr. Guy Martini, this is an important international Symposium after the Covid-19 pandemic, so the number of international visitors participating is large.

Cao Bang needs to build a detailed overall scenario and must show its uniqueness and cultural characteristics in the UNESCO Global Geopark Network. At the same time, spread the message about connecting Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark with the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network.

In addition to the main activities, Mr. Guy Martini believes that it is necessary to organise side events to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the UNESCO Global Geoparks Network such as: Photo creation contest, answer questions about UNESCO Global Geopark Network activities, learn about Vietnam Geoparks in the provinces: Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Dak Nong.

The Organising Board needs to inform and introduce the routes to experience the Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark; Organise seminars for experts researching limestone geology and publish new scientific topics.

Pay attention to renewing traditional craft village products in Non Nuoc Cao Bang Geopark such as: Crafts of making paper, incense, handmade yin and yang tiles... create quality products, bearing the mark of the Symposium to introduce and sell to international visitors; fashion shows with designs from unique indigenous cultural materials combined with modern styles such as embroidered, handwoven products, and Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao ethnic costumes…

Building a unique check-in point on Bang River with the theme of Cao Bang culture for domestic and international tourists to walk along the riverbank (behind Kim Dong pedestrian street) sightseeing, taking photos,…

Previously, the expert delegation inspected the locations where the main activities of the Symposium will take place such as: Provincial Convention Center; Vo Nguyen Giap street; City centre flower garden; Kim Dong Pedestrian Street and Bang River Pedestrian Street; Symposium facilities.

Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark has an area of more than 3,683 km2, including the entire area of Cao Bang City and districts: Quang Hoa, Trung Khanh, Ha Lang and part of the area of Ha Quang, Hoa An, Nguyen Binh and Thach An districts.

Currently, the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark has 4 unique tourist routes: Explore "Phja Oac - The Mountain of Changes", sightseeing route "Returning to the roots", experiencing indigenous culture in "Wonderland", route experiencing "A time of fire flowers" in Cao Bang Province.

Route 5 connecting Non Nuoc Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark and Dong Van Karst Plateau UNESCO Global Geopark is being jointly built by the two provinces of Cao Bang and Ha Giang.
