Global trend

The harmonious integration of tourism exploitation with biodiversity conservation is a global trend.

According to a survey done by Booking.com, 72% of about 29 thousand travellers from 30 countries believe that human beings must act now to save the earth for future generations.

The finding concurrently shows travellers’ increasing needs to return to nature in order to experience and learn about original values.

Vietnam is also developing responsible and green tourism. The demand for educational tourism is increasing. Therefore, local travel agencies, tourism businesses, and craft villages have provided tourism products and services that meet this demand, attracting more travellers.

One product especially stands out in Quang Nam's summer tourism stimulus programme for 2024. It is summer camp, an integration between education and travel by exploiting unique local ecosystems.

Travellers, especially students, are now very appreciative and welcoming of the summer camp 2024 in Quang Nam. Thus, in order to maintain quality, the tours must have a cap on the number of participants.

Opportunities for Quang Nam

The Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve is considered one of the pioneers in Vietnam that has promoted educational tourism associated with nature’s lecture halls or classrooms for years.

Nature’s lecture halls or classrooms in Quang Nam are rivers, mangrove forests, organic vegetable gardens, etc. Farmers and homestay hosts play the roles of teachers or lecturers. They talk about their lives in dependence on, but in harmony with, nature.

Furthermore, Quang Nam has much potential for educational tourism development, including natural reserves, national parks, and unique biosphere reserves.

The exploitation of these ecosystems for tourism development must obey the principles of protecting the environment and natural resources and avoiding impacts and damages to their natural and social populations.

In addition to the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An Biosphere Reserve, Quang Nam boasts a number of other sites that could be developed for educational tourism, including Song Thanh National Park, the River Safari Nam Hoi An (under Vinwonder Nam Hoi An), Tam My Tay Forest (home to grey-shanked douc langurs), and Bai Say - Song Dam.
