Tam Coc is one of the places imbued with historical, cultural, and soulful values of Ninh Binh residents. With rice fields in the top 5 most beautiful rice fields in Vietnam voted by international travel website Business Insider, at the end of May and beginning of June every year, the rice fields are at their most beautiful. The shimmering golden colour and scent of ripe rice fields are like a brilliant golden silk carpet winding next to the romantic Ngo Dong river with rocky mountains of thousands of shapes and the vegetation full of life, which creates a captivating picture. The artistic rice fields in Tam Coc have an area of nearly 10,000 m², highlighted by the image of a buffalo-herding boy playing the flute, inspired by the folk painting "Herdboy playing flute". This painting represents the people's wishes for favourable weather and convenient conditions, lush and bountiful harvests. Besides, Tam Coc also contains many traces of human history tens of thousands of years ago, creating the premise for the formation of Hoa Lu capital in the 10th century.
