Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort achieves international certification for sustainable tourism development

(TITC) - Recently, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort (Hoi An, Quang Nam province) has officially received the "Travelife Gold for Accommodation Sustainability" Certificate from Travelife - the international organisation for sustainable tourism.

Travelife was launched by ABTA - the UK Travel Association and the Dutch ANVR travel association. Founded in 2007, the Travelife Sustainability System is an initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable practices within the travel and tourism industry.

To achieve the Travelife Gold certificate, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort has completed 154 required items according to the Standard related to the topics: sustainable management, environmental management, and human resources.

Throughout the assessment process, the resort used specialized monitoring tools to conduct continuous testing and evaluation over a long period of time. The actual results and data collected were closely assessed and monitored by experts, ensuring the utmost objectivity and accuracy.

The categories Silk Sense Hoi An achieved include minimising environmental impacts, improving economic and social impacts on the surrounding community, respecting and protecting human rights and practicing fair labour, and protecting animal welfare and biodiversity.

Located along the Co Co River and near Cua Dai Beach, Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort is a pioneer resort in sustainable tourism development in Quang Nam.

Since its inception, Silk Sense has focused on minimizing environmental impact, improving economic and social impact for local communities, and conserving biodiversity. The villas and rooms are designed to make the most of natural energy sources. The resort has completely eliminated the use of plastic, replacing them with environmentally friendly materials such as ceramic and glass.

In addition, Silk Sense also focuses on preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of Hoi An through cultural experiences, cuisine, and festivals. More than 85% of the staff being Hoi An people are professionally trained in the tourism industry.

Silk Sense Hoi An River Resort has recently been recognised and honoured by a number of local organisations and agencies for its achievements. It is currently one of 25 businesses, organisations, and destinations in Quang Nam that have received green tourism certification under the Quang Nam Green Tourism Criteria. It is the first plastic waste-free hotel in Vietnam to be recognised by the Vietnam Tourism Association.
