Vietnam – Australia to promote bilateral cooperation in environmental protection and response to climate change

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung had an official visit to Australia from March 16 to March 18 as a guest of the Australian Government. During the talks, Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung have discussed about priority issues, and made a joint declaration to enhance comprehensive partnership.

The declaration is designed to build upon achievements, expand and deepen the strong relationship between Vietnam and Australia and implement principles to bring benefits to the region. The declaration creates a framework for promoting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of climate change, natural resources, environment, finance, communications.

The two countries share joint interests in regional peace and security and pledge to continue dialogues and cooperation in defense, security, navigation and aviation safety in the region, law enforcement and fight against trans-national crime.
