Contract signed on tourism development for Dong Van Karst Plateau

Update: 27/07/2016
The Ha Giang provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the McKinsey & Company Viet Nam has signed a VND53 billion (US$2.37 million) contract on tourism planning and development of the locality’s Dong Van Karst Plateau and Ha Giang City up to 2025.

Speaking at the signing ceremony in Ha Noi on July 25, Politburo member, Secretary of Party Central Committee (PCC) and head of the PCC's Economic Commission Nguyen Van Binh said that Ha Giang is home to many ethnic groups with traditional customs, culture, heritages and nationally recognised tourist attractions, including the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geo-Park.

These advantages give the province rich potential to develop tourism, making the sector a spearhead industry in the locality’s economic restructuring process, he said.

He expressed his hope that with its rich experience in planning, the contractor would closely co-ordinate with local authorities to work out a sound tourism plan for Dong Van Karst Plateau and Ha Giang City.

Binh, who is also Head of the Steering Committee for the Northwestern Region, lauded the local authorities for their initiatives in attracting domestic and international investors and major economic groups, which have significantly contributed to facilitating the socio-economic development in the province and the northwest region in general.
