The construction of a waste treatment plant with the capacity to process 500 tonnes a day in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province began on April 27. The 325-billion VND plant, on a site of 14.9 ha, will use the latest European micro-technology to treat waste. It is expected to become operational in the second quarter of 2010.

British explorers have discovered a new cave in Phong Nha-Ke Bang, which is thought to be the largest in the world. The cave is named Son Doong and was found by a local man named Khanh in 2008. Vietnam’s first solar battery factory will start running on April 27 in Duc Hoa Ha Industrial Complex, in Binh Tien hamlet, Duc Hoa Ha commune, Duc Hoa district, the southern province of Long An. The HCM City Energy Saving Centre said that in the first phase, the factory will manufacture solar cell panels of 80Wp to 165Wp, which have the average lifespan of 30 years.
