Vietnam and Slovenia to strengthen cooperation in culture, sports and tourism

(TITC) - On 18th June 2024, in the headquarter of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST), Mr. Ta Quang Dong, MOCST’s Deputy Minister had a meeting with Ms. Renata Cvelbar Bek, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia.

MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong addressing the meeting, Vietnam always attaches importance to developing culture, sports and tourism cooperation with Slovenia, an important partner of Vietnam in the Central European region. He expressed his pleasure at the fact that Slovenia has participated in a number of cultural events in Vietnam, including the Ha Noi International Film Festival.

In the upcoming time, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong hopes that Vietnam and Slovenia will promote the exchange of delegations at all levels and increase the exchange of information about each country's cultural and artistic activities, participate in cultural and artistic activities organised within the bilateral and multilateral frameworks.

Mr. Ta Quang Dong said, in 2024, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to organise a programme to introduce Vietnam cinema in Slovenia through film screening activities. He hoped Slovenia support the organisation of the event, contributing to enhancing cultural exchange and understanding between the people of the two countries.

MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong sent an invitation to Slovenia to attend international cultural events held in Vietnam such as Hue Festival, Ha Noi International Film Festival, International Puppet Festival…

Regarding the tourism field, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong stated, the national tourism agencies of Vietnam and Slovenia need to increase information exchange on laws, policies and experiences in tourism development management. At events like Vietnam International Travel Mart – Hanoi (VITM) and International Travel Expo - Ho Chi Minh City (ITE-HCMC), MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong hopes to see the present of Slovenia. Within the framework of the fair's activities, the two sides can exchange solutions to enhance tourism promotion and increase the number of visitors exchanged between the two countries.

Ms. Renata Cvelbar Bek, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovenia affirmed that the two countries agree to promote cooperation in culture, sports and tourism, which shows the desire for deeper understanding of each other and the willingness to promote cooperation on many levels and in different fields.

Regarding the tourism field, according to Ms. Renata Cvelbar Bek, Slovenia proposed to organise the exchange of delegations to share experiences in tourism development, creating conditions for travel businesses from both sides to explore opportunities for cooperation in product development and expand the markets for types of sports tourism, wellness tourism, and green tourism; Research the possibility of establishing a direct flight route between the two countries at a favourable time.
