Update: 23/03/2015
(TITC) – In response to the annual World Water Day (22 March), this year the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (Monre) coordinated with Bac Giang People’s Committee to hold a national ceremony and other activities from 19th – 20th Mar in Bac Giang City

Under the theme “water and sustainable development”, the World Water Day aims to improve public awareness of the significance of fresh water and to call for sustainable management of fresh water resources. It’s also a day to prepare for how we manage water in the future!

It is forecasted that, by 2025, approximately 2/3 of the global population may live in areas which suffer from fresh water shortage. Therefore, sustainable development is becoming more urgent than ever, in which, fresh water resources play a key role and can not be separated from sustainable development.

In Viet Nam, there will be many activities responding to the World Water Day 2015 including: scientific conference, photo exhibition, art performances…

In 1993, the United Nations General Assembly designated 22 March as the first World Water Day. 22 years later, World Water Day is celebrated around the world shining the spotlight on a different issue every year. This issue is also the theme of the annual UN World Water Development Report which is launched on World Water Day.
